Trackem Application

What is Trackem®?
Trackem® is a Java Application added to the handset features which request the “position” details (data) from the GPS in the wireless phone. This data information is transmitted to the Trackem® servers every 2 minutes during a “network ping” and manipulated by servers into legible: Maps, Reports, Distances & Mileage Logs, Speed metrics, Direction, and Location. More Trackem® Data can be requested securely via the Handset or the Internet

Will Trackem® work if the phone is powered off?
No, Trackem® only operates when the handsets are powered on.

Can you prevent users from turning Trackem® off?

No, you cannot prevent users from turning the service off on handsets. The only way to do this is to use well-hidden modems in user vehicles. Preventing users from turning off the application is also in violation of privacy laws.

The only way to get around this is to use the 'Calendar Feature' on the handsets. You can set Trackem to run at intervals during the day, turning the tracking back on. For more information and a step-by-step guide, please download our Calendar Feature Guide (PDF).

How do I set up my computer for Trackem®?
There is nothing you have to do on your computer other then have an active internet connection. You do not have to install any software! Go to www.solutionsintomotion.com where you then enter your username and password to enter your own personal account.

Will Trackem® run in the background of my phone?
Trackem® is able to run in the background on handsets and Blackberry's. On cell phones, pressing the red 'hang up' button suspends Trackem. This means the application is running in the background, and you are able to use the phone as normal. On Blackberry's, you must hold down the shift key and press the escape, or 'go back' key. A menu will pop-up. Scroll to the 'Home' icon and let go of the buttons. Trackem is now running in the background.

If my battery is very low will Trackem® still Transmit?
GPS will stop transmitting when battery is very low. The GPS chipset in the phone automatically shuts off when low on battery to conserve power for an emergency phone call, if needed. Trackem does not shut down though. If your battery gets low and you believe Trackem has stopped, plug in your phone, and restart Trackem.

Do I have to use voice on the phone with Trackem® or can I use the phone for only Data?
Trackem does not require a voice plan. Contact your dealership or wireless carrier for information on data only plans.

How much data consumption will Trackem® use per day?
Data consumption per Trackem® user averages 35k of Data per day – leaving room for growth.

Will Trackem® consume more of my battery?
GPS data transmissions will consume more battery (can increase battery consumption by 40%).

Where does Trackem® work?
Please refer to the wireless network coverage area maps that Trackem® has partnered up with. These maps are available on the networks web site.
